This album contains two concerts that were transmitted live on radio in 1969. This was during Janis' short-lived Kozmic Blues Band era. The first was at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on the 1st of April, the other at the Texas International Pop Festival in August. Of the two, the Amsterdam half has the better sound quality. As was often the case with Janis concerts, you get parts where she over-sings and over-emotes and moments where she gets it absolutely right. Her energy and emotional honesty make it easy to forgive the former. This album is not a "must have" for the casual fan, but a nice addition to the collection for the diehard Janis fan. It's Janis live!
